Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band. Satyricon has two regular members: Satir (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards) and Frost (drums), who are occasionally joined by session and concert musicians. Satyricon arose in the early 90s and with the first albums entered a cohort of bands that created the Norwegian black metal scene and which are often characterized as "the second wave of black metal." Since the fourth album Rebel Extravaganza, the band's music has become more focused on the mass audience, subsequent releases have consistently hit the mainstream music charts. Now Satyricon, along with compatriots Dimmu Borgir, are one of the most commercially successful groups in their genre.
