I am coming to the great motherland of Russia for a business trip. My business partner and I are recent college graduates who are looking to establish an import-export business that caters solely to trade between India and Russia.
We are coming to Russia mainly to buy raw chrysotile fiber (asbestos) at a cheap price. We have buyers ready in India who are willing to purchase large quantities of this product and they are currently buying from other intermediaries and we plan to replace them.
We plan to visit Asbest town and Orenburg to meet with the people who work and manage the mines and factories. We do not know anyone in Russia, so we would appreciate any advice you can give us about how likely it is that people will take us seriously.
We are also interested in buying ammonia, mixed mineral chemical fertilizers, seed oils, and magnesium carbonate. To procure these products, we plan to visit Berezniki and Tolyatti.
In total, we plan to meet with officials from Uralblas, Orenburg Minerals, Uralchem, Uralkali, and TogliattiAzot.
We also plan to export various goods from India to Russia, including fruits, preserved vegetables, dried fruits, fish, beef, eggs, packaged medicines, raw tobacco, jams, baked goods, glazed ceramics, tea, coffee, rice, spices, pesticides, non-retail yarn (both synthetic and natural), leather (for clothing), and eggs.
We would appreciate your insights on the demand for these specific products in Russia. If anyone is interested in importing these goods or partnering with us, please let us know.
Below is our itinerary. We have not booked our return flight, and we will not leave Russia until we have found some good deals for our venture.
We are planning to be in Russia for several weeks, so we also plan to visit some tourist destinations and enjoy ourselves, so please suggest any must visit place or must do activity nearby to places suggested in itinerary. Please suggest any other places we should visit that might be helpful for our business.
We would also appreciate any advice you can give us about business and cultural practices in Russia. I have had the pleasure of meeting many Russians while on vacation, and I have found them to be a friendly and welcoming people. I know Russia is generally very safe place compared to what is shown in western media still would like to know some tips for having safe trip.
Finally, we would like to ask for your recommendations for airlines to use and avoid. We also plan to bring gifts for the people we meet, so please suggest some nice things from India that we can bring to Russia.
