Tom lives in a small village near a bridge, and it’s quieter than the city. Last summer he walked through a jungle and later crossed a desert, and he asked, “Is the desert hotter than the jungle?” His friend said it was, but the nights were colder and sometimes worse than he expected. Tom didn’t bring good shoes, so his trip wasn’t comfortable, and he wrote a note about it in his diary. Now he teaches English and writes a comparative sentence for his students: “This village is quieter, that town is noisier, and the hotel is more expensive.” Is it possible to make learning romantic and fun? He thinks it is, and he invites everyone to walk with him to the bridge because the evening is calmer than before.
