Нарушитель порядка
Мы все знаем, что английский - язык с довольно строгим, фиксированным порядком слов. Он зависит от типа предложения, валентности глагола, изменяемости признака объекта и так далее. Но и в этом королевстве строгих правил бывают интересные и забавные случаи. Вот, к примеру, один из них:
My wife told me that she loved me. - Моя жена говорила, что любит меня.
Предложение вполне себе обычное, но его значение можно поменять 8 раз с помощью одного единственного слова - only (только/единственный). В зависимости от того, куда вы его поставите, смысл предложения будет меняться, как незначительно, так и кардинально.
Например:
Only my wife told that she loved me. - Только моя жена говорила мне, что любит меня.
My wife only told me that she loved me. - Моя жена только говорила мне, что любит меня.
