Представьте, что вам предлагают пари: бросить два кубика, и если на них выпали только 1, 2, 3 или 4, тогда вы выиграли. Но если там есть 5 или 6, тогда вы проиграли. Вам предлагают поставить на такой эксперимент 10 долларов. Соглашаться или нет?

Once again Tesla become word’s top EV seller regaining the throne from its main rival, Chinese brand BYD.
Tesla sold 386,810 electric cars during January-March 2024 while Chinese brand BYD delivered only 300,114 units within same period.
Even though Elon Mask’s famous automobile manufacturer once again becomes top 1 EV seller with its 386,810 delivered EV in Q1 2024, its quarterly sales still dropped by 20.16% from 484,507 delivered units in Q4 2023. At the same time BYD’s sales in Q1 2024 dropped by 42.88% compared to final three month of last year, when the number of delivered car units set at 525,409 units, according to CNN business.
One of the reasons behind the sales drop is a concern over EV demand, especially in China, where such producers as BYD, Geely, Wuling, etc. aggressively implement various stimulus to attract buyers.
Shortage, in economic terms, is a condition when demand exceeds supply.
There are three main factors of shortage:
1. Decrease in supply*
2. Increase in demand**
3. Government intervention***
*Unforeseen drought leads to crop damage, causing insufficient supply of products made of the crops.
**Sudden and long-lasting power outage caused by natural/man made reasons may ignite a need in generators, a need that can’t be met under current market conditions.
***Government intervention, for example imposing so-called price-ceiling:
E.g. When the government wants to set a certain fixed level of prices which can’t be exceeded by sellers. If the price is less than a point of quantity-supply equilibrium, it will lead to goods deficit, simply due to the fact that the buyers want to buy much more amount of goods that the sellers want to sell. Eventually it leads to standing hours and hours in lines and not actually buying but trying to get, searching for needed goods all over the town. (Welcome back to late Soviet time)
PMI is an important index that reveals the health of the economy.
PMI index releases on a monthly basis by special institutions, showing how healthy/unhealthy the economy is in a certain country.
PMI reading is over 50- economic expansion
PMI reading equals 50- economic stagnation
PMI reading is below 50-economic contraction
Countries' PMI index in March:
1. Russia 55.8 (S&P Global)
2. China 50.8 (PMI released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS))
3. USA 51.9 (S&P Global)
China's manufacturing purchasing managers index rises up to 50.8 in March from 49.1 in February. It's the first expansion in six months, according to National Bureau of Statistics. However, some analytics believe the index rose mostly due to the low costs of production while market remained tepid.
PMI is a measure of economic health.
PMI complies info on production levels, new orders. supplier deliveries, inventories, employment levels.
PMI reading > 50 economic expansion.
PMI reading=50-economy unchanged.
PMI reading <50 - economic contraction.
